By Micki Hoffmann | September 14, 2009
CELEBRATE! The Jack Russell Memorial Library is on its way with the City voting to fund part of the project. Now we can move forward, confident and proud that we will have a library worthy of our city, a beautiful addition to downtown – and more than that, a center for lifelong learning. Making the library a magnet for the community, however, must begin now! Our array of great programs and activities is a good start, and we need your help.
Below is a job list — big jobs and small jobs – short term jobs and long term jobs. Please volunteer for whatever fits your schedule and your skills. Many of you have indicated your willingness to participate in programs and activities – now’s your chance! Call me –

Support from the Common Council
By Micki Hoffmann | September 11, 2009
Happy Day! One of the last big hurdles has been successfully negotiated. Last night the Common Council voted to build the 36.000+ square foot Jack Russell Memorial library, contributing $5 million to the public/private partnership from city funds. Your support — whether in spirit or in presence, letters, conversations, and donations helped convince the Council that most of the citizens regard a library as a need, not a “want.” Thank you everyone! Mike Gelhausen and the Library staff also send their heartfelt thanks. [A note of thanks from you to the mayor and council persons would go a long way in continuing our good relationship! Thanks again for being a true Friend of the Library!
